Cutting and fixing of fibre cement sheeting

Fibre cement sheeting when fixed to the external wall framing of a building or structure provides protection from the elements.

  • Fibre cement sheeting materials are cut to a specific length and shape, and fixed to a framework in a progressive manner.

Tasks

Tasks associated with the cutting and fixing of fibre cement sheeting include:

  • Planning and preparation for the cutting and fixing of fibre cement sheeting;
  • Measuring and cutting fibre cement sheeting with a score and snap knife, hand guillotine, fibreshear's, circular saw fitted with HEPA vacuum extraction and wet saw;
  • Pre-operational inspection of plant used to cut fibre cement sheeting;
  • Selection of correct cutting blade for plant to cut fibre cement sheeting;
  • Operation of plant for the cutting of fibre cement sheeting;
  • Securing and fixing of fibre cement sheeting;
  • Working at heights when erecting, positioning and fixing fibre cement sheeting;
  • Ergonomic issues with handling and erection of fibre cement sheeting;
  • Selection and use of personal protective equipment;
